Hi, I’m Grace Yoe,
I’m a biology major on the pre-med track at the University of Houston. I come from a Burmese immigrant family, which has shaped my interest in health and inspired me to bridge gaps in understanding across cultures. That perspective also influenced how I approach learning. Growing up, I was always drawn to figuring things out for myself—not just memorizing facts but understanding how things actually work and why they matter. I like seeing how all the smaller parts of something complex affect each other and work together, and when you finally understand it all, it just clicks. That’s what makes research so exciting to me. It’s a space where I get to explore those connections, apply what I’ve learned, and work through unexpected results. It’s challenging, but in the best way. Outside of school, I love experimenting in the kitchen, playing pickleball, and reading.
